Thread: 4 billion mobile connections worldwide

The GSMA has revealed that there are currently 4 billion GSM mobile connections in the world as of this month. The population of the entire world mounts only up to 7 billion and 4 billion subscribers is a considerable figure. According to GSMA by 2013 this amount should cross the 6 billion mark. The association also said that the staggering growth is because many users are carrying multiple cell phones especially in the developed and developing nations. Amongst these 4 billion about 100 million were mobile broadband facility enabled.

A major part of Asia, including Korea runs on CDMA. Japaan & China has their own system. any idea about the world wide subscribers in these technologies?

it is supposed to be about 500 million ... according to this link it was 475 millions in late november 2008 ...
