Microsoft working on a Live Drive for online data storage

Apple computers have long provided a similar service through their .Mac program. Google is rumored to be working on a similar service for their users with some sort of a GDrive service. Now, Microsoft has said that they are planning to launch Live Drive for online storage for their online customers.

This service would provide the users with a virtual hard drive. Google has not officially revealed details about their Gdrive plans, which is said to have plans to provide unlimited online storage.

Microsoft Chief Technology Officer Ray Ozzie is quoted as saying in the Fortune Magazine: “Microsoft is planning to use its server farms to offer anyone huge amounts of online storage of digital data. With Live Drive, all your information—movies, music, tax information, a high-definition videoconference you had with your grandmother, whatever—could be accessible from anywhere, on any device.”

However, not many users are excited about such a move from the company, as they believe that Microsoft would fail them with a bad interface with little usability. Microsoft is yet to launch the updated Live Mail interface to their Hotmail service and the users of the beta testing are not too impressed with what they see in the backend.
