| It will continue to grow until companies have a rational pricing structure. New games which were available for 2000/- or more some years back. Now all new games are available for 999/- or thereabouts. Why can't software become cheaper too? One software which Architects and Interior designers like me use is Autocad. It is available in India for 70,000 /-. That is just too much. Pirated version of the same is available on a dvd for 50/-. You do the math. |

| ^^ you are right. Also taking into consideration that software giants like M$ still rake in heavy profits prove this, althought piracy is bad, it does a balancing act on the software market as a whole. |

| Platinum Member | Autocad is a bad example. Autodesk products are not required by casual people. Yes, it is costly. But who are the users of Autodesk products such as Autocad? Architects and companies. These people charge 4% to 10% as their fees. So I say that they can afford a product worth Rs. 70,000/-. There could be very small starter architects who do not have such resources and they resort to pirated version. Maybe they have no choice. BTW, Autocad's minimum cost is US$ 3995/- (electronic download). Autodesk has a "Compliance Check" system where it can detect pirated versions at the time of acivation and regular use.
