Using Internet and having an e-mail address seems to be not very safe these days. If an e-mail ID or a Computer IP address has been hacked by any criminal for illegal purpose, the person owning the e-mail address and the IP address has to prove himself innocent. Recently a similar episode has come to picture where terrorists had used a stolen IP address to send an email. The Information Act along legal aspects the owner of the IP address is held responsible. There is definitely a technology available that gives tools to find out who had stolen the IP address and which computer had been used for the purpose. The new technology has given software which is malicious enough for allowing the hackers for cyber attacks.
