Default New sub forum : Renewable energy

Hi members,

We now have a new section on the forum called : Renewable energy

This subject is something I love reading and writing about and I hope some of you would also be interested in these energy sources and hopefully get some for yourself after you find out about the usage here in the new sub forum.

I would be soooo happy even if we manage to get 10 members to install solar water heaters at their homes if not more

Thanks

By the way did anyone did calculation between supply & demand see how much we can meet by this renewable resources? We can't use them for all things like factory/plants. Also to use solar for heavy powers you will have to use land which can only come after cutting trees. Last time I checked ratio was 1:1000 in favor of non-renewable to renewable in term of land utilisation for all green resources.
Only source of energy which is clean & has a scope is Nuclear energy using fusion whose research have been coordinated by ITER & now India too have become a part of it.

If it become successful it will a giant leap for human kind.

& become successful it will even if anti science organisation want the done on that to be stopped & predict disaster during every experiments.

@Luke Skywalker

Every small part has its own value dont forget that.

Here no one said that we will cut trees in mass for plain land to install solar panels.

Fixing a solar water heater will help in saving lots of electricity which will definitely make a difference in your calculation between supply & demand.

I am not against that but there are organisation supporting installing wind mills & solar panels at the expense of trees in name of environment. In fact solar energy should be used for many of home uses.

I so much want to install a solar heater at home. But my flat is on the 1st floor while the solar panel will have to be installed on the terrace on 5th floor.

Besides getting permission (from the society) for such as installation, it will waste a lot of hot water from the pipe running 5 storeys down. Hence I gave up the idea.

I installed gas heater instead.

If you have a south facing balcony then it is possible to install it on your own balcony provided you don't mind the clutter

How many trees would you need to cut down if you installed a few solar panels on your own rooftop?

Dont know where you got this impression from. Water harvesting from buildings and solar water heaters and to some extent solar panels for generating electricity should be made mandatory for all building...

arey luke i think ur from a different world, where global warming is just hype and now this....

there is SO MUCH land that has allready been cleared off forests and cant be used.

When ever we say that we need to substitute our conventional sources of energy, we mean that we will replace them my VARIOUS other greener methods.

PS: Admin jee, rainwater harvesting is all ready mandatory for all apartment complexes. The rule was started in 2006. So, all apartments built after 2006 should have it. With water heaters the problem is $$. But, the DRDO quarters in bangalore have it

Solar water heaters not only work with sunlight but they also have electric heating elements to keep the hot water supply going even on cloudy days or when you need more water then can be heated with sun light alone..

A solar water heater would also work with electricity so you dont really have to worry about using too much water on any given day.
The whole point is that still a considerable amount of electricity produced by burning coal will be saved this way.

Solar water is economical and pays for itself within 5 years and it has a life of more then 20 years. Maharashtra is the best state to install a solar water heater as the Maharashtra government provides the highest amount of subsidy for residential purposes.... and after that Northeastern states.
