Optical Fiber is not easy to develop infrastructure within cities and is time-consuming. Moreover fiber-optic systems are very complex. They are also very expensive to install and then to operate. But they score over the copper wire when it comes to high end applications. But because of the difficulties that fiber-optic communication systems face they are generally installed in long-distance applications. In such a case one can use them to their full transmission capacity. One is also see a steep slope in the cost of the fiber-optic communications system which is considerable. Even it is noticed that Optical fiber is more cost-effective as compared to the copper based network.
