Rep Power: 3 | As per incoming information, Baidu.com has been cleared of charges that it helps the web users to find and download music illegally. Baidu.com is the most popular search engine in China and it had been sued by the music companies, which claimed that a search engine service provided by the company made it easier for the web users to find illegal songs on the net. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry has said in a statement that they would appeal against this latest ruling. IFPI chairperson John Kennedy said in a statement: “I am amazed by this inexplicable judgment that is totally out of step with Chinese law.” IFPI filed this lawsuit on behalf of music companies including EMI Group Plc., Vivendi’s Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Sony BMG. |
