Internet Company Yahoo! has announced their plans to acquire Bix.com website, which allow web users to create online contests.
This could soon become yet another service offering from the web’s most popular website, which is facing intense competition from Google, MSN and AOL.
Mike Speiser, Bix.com’s president and chief executive confirmed that the news is accurate. He added that this deal would help them target a broader market base.
Yahoo! added that they are planning to integrate this feature into their other offerings such as Yahoo Groups, Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo Video.
Bix.com would become the latest member of the Yahoo! family after the acquisitions of Flickr, Jumpcut, Del.icio.us and Upcoming.org.
Yahoo! added that Speiser would be appointed as the vice president of community for Yahoo’s communities group after the acquisition is completed.
