Rep Power: 3 | Market research group Gartner has said that US based mobile phone maker Motorola has lost a bit of its market share to Nokia and Samsung in the recent months. The company’s latest KRZR mobile phone has not been as huge a success as their RAZR range of mobile phone products. Gartner said that global sales of mobile phones increased 21.5 percent from a year ago to 251 million units in the third quarter. The fourth quarter is expected to see sales of around 281 million units of mobile phones around the world. Nokia continues to head the market with around 35.1 percent of the market. They have gained around 2.6 percent market share in the recent times. They have also managed to topple Motorola in the Latin American market. Samsung also managed to overtake Motorola in Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Middle East and African region. They are gaining from sales of their D900 and E900 mobile phones. Gartner analyst Carolina Milanesi spoke about Samsung: “Samsung has won consumers back thanks to finding a more personal approach to design and features and by embracing the trend for slim devices.” |
