Just as it did with a number of other products, we will be seeing the shut-down of yet another product of Yahoo. Yahoo! Publisher Network (YPN), from it's introduction, back in 2005 had been in the Beta phase. Yahoo! Publisher Network, when launched had great expectations, and people had started making threads in forums and writing blog posts on approximately when Yahoo! Publisher Network would take over the power from Google Adsense. But probably, the happy Adsense users (and Google, and Google fans) might have already expected this day to come, but not so late.
Yahoo! Publisher Network was open to only the publishers belonging to the US. Eventhough it had not spread much because of this restriction, it was expected to be a good Adsense alternative. Maybe it was because Yahoo didn't want to see the Yahoo! Publisher Network going on to be just an alternative that Yahoo decided to close it down.
As of an e-mail sent to the publishers of the service early this month, the program will closing down on 30 April, 2010. But, the Yahoo! Publisher Network Blog said that it was closing down just for the 'small publishers', and that it would continue to co-operate with their large partners/affiliates.
