MD and CEO of Daimler Chrysler India Wilfred Aulbur was speaking to a news media group in India when he accepted the possibility of launching their Smart car in the Indian market. He was quoted as saying: “It would be a niche application for people who have clearly defined personality, character, lifestyle.” Indian consumer might show preference for a small compact car but not something, which would cost more than 2-3 lakh rupees. DaimlerChrylser has just confirmed that they are going to launch this car in the US and it is expected to cost around USD 13000 in that market. For that price, you can easily go on for something like a Maruti Baleno or a Hyundai Accent in India.
