Nokia continues to see potential in the mobile market
Nokia is already the world’s largest mobile phone maker and sells one in every three phones in the market. However, they are still not satisfied. The company sees more scope to grow in this market.
Nokia Chairman Jorma Ollila has said in a statement that Nokia believes that the market has a lot of potential left especially in the low-cost handsets and more sophisticated devices.
He said: “Clearly mobile phones have a long way to go. There are 3 billion people today who own a mobile phone. Five hundred million of them had never made a phone call in their life before.”
He further added: “The job for Nokia is to make sure as soon as possible to get another 2 billion people connected.”
Nokia has been launching products to take on devices like RIM Blackberry and Palm Treo to get into the corporate markets interested in getting facilities like email on the move.
Ollila said: “Simultaneously, we need to add high added value devices — a music player connected to the telephone, and email being available to business and also to consumers on their phones.”
