Rep Power: 10  |  Hubble’s telescope is back online Hubble’s telescope is back online NASA has confirmed that the main camera on the Hubble Space Telescope has finally started working again. It was down for almost a period of two weeks and the NASA engineers have not put it back online on Hubble Space Telescope. The switchover to this backup source of energy started on Thursday and was completed by yesterday. Ed Ruitberg, deputy associate director for the Astrophysics Division at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt spoke about this development: “This is the best possible news. We were confident we could work through the camera issue, and now we can get back to doing more incredible science with the camera.” The Advanced Camera for Surveys is now scheduled to resume observations Sunday night. NASA had installed this new camera on the Hubble in March 2002 and it increased Hubble’s vision 10 times. |
