Microsoft might have to pay a USD 5.5 million fine a day to EU
Software giant Microsoft might find itself in massive troubles as European Union is readying to fine the company in the long-running antitrust battle.
As per incoming information, the company can be fined up to $5.5 million a day till it accepts the terms and conditions stated by the courts and fix their products sold in the European markets.
The final decision is expected to be taking this coming Wednesday. EU continues to claim that Microsoft failed to comply with the regulator’s landmark antitrust decision.
This financial penalty would be in addition to the record €497m fine imposed on the company around two years back.
Microsoft on their part are continuing the state that they have already done enough to satisfy the ruling. A company spokesperson said in a statement: “Microsoft is dedicating massive resources to meeting the aggressive timeline and high quality standard set by the Commission. In the light of Microsoft’s current compliance efforts, we consider any fines to be unnecessary and unjustified.”
