Apple Computers stop selling edu-iMac to individual students and teachers
Apple Computers recently made big news when they replaced the aging Apple eMac range of products for the educational market and a stripped down model of their iMac. However, the stripped down model is a pretty incredible for the price (USD 899).
The company was apparently selling this iMac to individual students and teachers from their stores but has apparently stopped doing it now. It appears so that the company has now removed this product from their regular store and is now only selling it through the e-store for institutional sales.
Market analysts believe that consumers were getting a way to acquire this great value for money product and it was cannibalizing the sales of the regular Apple iMac.
The educational version of iMac is USD 300 cheaper than the next cheapest iMac and lacks some non-essential stuff. Apple has officially declined to reveal the reason for removal of this product from their regular online store. The company however said: “[This eMac replacement] is not available to individual education customers, it is for institutions only.”
