    August 20, 2008

Indian consumers, who have waited for months to own the iconic 3G-enabled Apple iPhone, will have to pay Rs 31,000 for the entry-level 8GB memory mobile phone and Rs 36,100 for a model with double the memory.

Both Vodafone and Airtel will be launching the iPhone on August 22 and industry experts say bookings and pre-launch interest suggest that they would be able to sell over 100,000 phones in the next 12 months.

I hate the fact that we in India have to pay twice the money as compared to other countries...

Is it too much duty on iphone or is it apple who is trying to rip off us Indians?

To this statement, I agree only partially. The phone may be just a status symbol in India but in US and Europe, there are huge applications for the the iPhone that make it a real value for money.

Maybe in India. But in Europe and US, there are a large number of (free) applications that make the iPhone a real value for money.

You will need to download applications from itunes to get the most out of your phone. Apple's Iphone is one of the best phones ever.

The only few things I do not like about iphone are:

    1) You cannot keep an application running in the background while doing something else.

    2) When WIFI is on the battery drains out in two to two and a half hours.

    3) All good applications are paid

    4) No video calling

    5) Not being able to download straight from the internet.

There are a few more things but these are the ones I could remember. Even with these major drawbacks I still love my Iphone and if my pocket (or dad's) allows I will buy the new Iphone which has got video calling feature.

Apple really needs to do something about the battery.

The cost of the Apple Iphone 3G 8 gb is 99$ in the US plus a monthly subscription of 40 $ (Basic Tariff Plan),Data Plan 30$ and a two year contract.
