Since, the OLPC (a non-profit organization) launched its dream project to develop a $100 laptop, it has been in all sorts of problem. Many of the company top officials have left it because of the hard and non-cooperative policies and changes which had been going on ever since starting.
As of the latest, a drastic internal restructuring is going on at OLPC which made Ivan Krsti, director of security to resign from OLPC. Ivan Krsti was named one of the top innovators for his contribution at OLPC by MIT Technology.
Iva Krsti resigned from OLPC three weeks ago, but this news was not released until Krsti posted it in his blog post. As per his post all the new changes presently underway at OLPC are not good for the organization in any way. He was ordered to stop working with OLPC President of Software and Content Walter Bender, and was asked to report to a manager who had no technical or engineering background and was incharge of all OLPC technology.
January this year, OLPC Chief Technology Officer Mary Lou Jepsen, also resigned from the company and started her own organization which is aimed to commercialize parts of the OLPC technology like screen and battery.
A few days after this news, Intel also announced that it is quitting from OLPC as it asked Intel to stop working on their low-cost laptop which was not liked by the company, but now OLPC is welcoming back Intel to the project and Intel is yet to respond to the request.
