comScore Networks has said that this Cyber Monday broke the record for the holiday season with the highest single-day ever of retail sales on the Web.
The research company claimed that consumers spent close to $608 million on shopping this Cyber Monday. This is a 26% increase over the same day last year.
It was also the first time that the single-day online sales broke $600 million.
comScore Chairman Gian Fulgoni spoke about this achievement: “While it was certainly an historic achievement, the online holiday shopping season is just beginning to kick into high gear.”
comScore further said that the first 27 days of November saw online sales of $9.48 billion. This is a 24% increase over the same period in 2005.
