World’s second largest mobile phone maker Motorola has said that they are looking at India to fuel growth in their mobile phone division.
The company aims to widen their market share in India by vastly improving their distribution network. Motorola is planning to get into bundling arrangements and broadening its financing deals.
Allen Burnes, corporate vice president for Motorola’s mobile devices business in high growth markets spoke about their plans for India: “Market places like India are great volume opportunities. There is massive industrial growth happening, and the burgeoning youth segment has disposable incomes never seen before.”
The company is already working with five mobile service providers in the nation to sell their mobile phones. Lloyd Mathias, marketing director for India added on this aspect: “Our bundled offers are mainly with first-time buyers. We are getting a lot of traction in the low-end market. One of our focus areas for 2007 is building a retail presence.”
