Rep Power: 3  |  Viettel gets the license to provide mobile services in Cambodia Vietnam’s military-run telecom company Viettel has confirmed that they have now received the license to offer mobile telephone services in neighboring Cambodia. This licensing deal has been signed on with Cambodian Posts and Telecommunications ministry. They would now be providing services using GSM technology in all of Cambodia’s territory. The company said in a statement on this development: “With a 30-year license, Viettel is allowed to provide voice, fax, data transfer, internet, international phone and Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) services.” Viettel Mobile happens to be the third-largest mobile phone provider in Vietnam and they recently became Vietnam’s first telecom operator to start services abroad in August offering domestic and international calls in Cambodia using Voice over Internet Protocol. |
