EMC Corporation has announced the opening of their development center in the Indian IT City of Bangalore. With this, the company has set the footprint of its security division in India.

EMC had just recently acquired RSA Security which itself was working on plans to open a development centre in India.

This new development center is part of their $500 million expansion plan for India by 2010. Their Bangalore based development center would initially house 35 engineers and they plan to expand this workforce to have 400 people by the end of 2008.

Arthur W Coviello, executive vice-president, EMC Corporation and president of RSA spoke on their plans for the Indian market: “The Bangalore development centre will focus on the development and delivery of the common security platform. This will dramatically accelerate the integration of core security services throughout EMC’s portfolio of products, providing the customers with a common, open baseline of built-in security for information infrastructure.”
