Publisher Conde Nast International has said in a statement that they are aiming to launch the Indian edition of their Vogue fashion magazine by autumn next year.

This magazine would mark their entry into the Asian Subcontinent, which is increasingly becoming an interesting destination for the companies in the west.

India is Asia’s fourth-biggest economy and has a huge potential customer base for the company. They would not be the first international magazine to enter India as Hearst Magazines, BBC and others are already publishing magazines here.

Jonathan Newhouse, chairman of Conde Nast International spoke about their plans for the Indian market: “Unlike most other Western publishers, Conde Nast will own and operate its own magazines in India rather than publishing through a joint venture or a license. Vogue is just the beginning.”
