Boeing sees an opportunity as Airbus falters
US based aircraft manufacturer Boeing has an excellent opportunity to overtake rivals Airbus as the latter is struggling to deliver its A380 jet on time. The jet is late by more than a year and its other mid-sized A350 plane is set for a major redesign work.
As a result, many airline operators are now likely to order their planes with Boeing in the coming months. Boeing has trailed Airbus in orders for the last five years. However, they have some problems of their own. The company aims to put out its 787 Dreamliner into service by 2008 but might not be able to make enough planes to fulfill its commitments.
The 787 Dreamliner has been a hot seller in the market and the Boeing has a good opportunity to capture the market for this kind of aircraft. However, media reports are full of reported problems with its development and Boeing has faltered in the past with huge number of pending orders.
The company is also the second largest supplier of defense equipment to US government but has suffered there too as they just recently agreed to pay $615 million to settle two arms procurement investigations.
However, market investors are putting their money on Boeing to come out victorious in all the mess. Their stocks have risen impressively in the last couple of months and they are now close to the peak.
