Robert Zoellick to join Goldman Sachs Group
Deputy U.S. secretary of state Robert Zoellick has said that he is leaving his position in the government to join Goldman Sachs Group.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice spoke about this decision: “It is not without considerable sadness that I announce that Bob Zoellick will be leaving the department in the coming weeks.”
Zoellick has been playing a crucial role in the Bush administration. He worked as a U.S. trade representative and recently became a top diplomat guiding U.S. policy toward China and in trouble spots such as Sudan.
Zoellick said that he was pleased to have helped the government create a first- rate team at the State Department. He added that he was pleased to join Goldman Sachs, which is the world’s biggest securities firm by market value.
