Default Nanjing Auto to manufacture cars in the USA

China’s Nanjing Automobile Group is rumored to be aiming to enter the US market. The company plans to build a manufacturing unit in Oklahoma to build MG-brand cars, which they acquired last year.

This is being seen as the first major assault from the Chinese automakers in the US market. Nanjing Automobile is looking at three production sites for its reborn MG cars. These are: a shuttered factory in Longbridge, England, a Nanjing plant and the Ardmore, Oklahoma site.

The company has not revealed any of these plans officially though.

Nanjing is not the only Chinese company aiming for the US market. Geely Automobile Holdings and Chery Automotive have already expressed their desire to make an entry into the world’s most lucrative automobile market.

Nanjing Automobile is one of the oldest automakers in the Chinese market and they practically shocked the world when they outbid Chinese carmaker Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. to buy MG Rover out of bankruptcy for 53 million pounds last year.
