Default Broadband to go free in 2 yrs

This is a old news, dated 26 Apr, 2007.

The government proposes to offer all citizens of India free, high-speed broadband connectivity by 2009, through the state-owned telecom service providers BSNL and MTNL.

It is very much possible but you will see a bandwidth limit something like 50mb or something stupid like that tagged with free broadband.

It is not possible for any government to provide any commercial service on such a large scale free of cost.

This free broadband will actually get them a lot of paid customers in the long run... I guess thats what the stratgy is... the state run broadband providers will get so much business out of this.

I don't think this will be a great success, although they might achieve partial success. Instead of going for big stuffs like that they should try to improve the quality of the services they are providing.
