Default An Indian will be on the moon by 2025

By 2025 an Indian might unfurl the national flag on the lunar surface. ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) has a plan to send an
Indian to space by an indigenously developed space craft by 2015.

"If the mission gets successful, there will be an Indian flag on the moon's surface by 2025," said SK Shivakumar, director, ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC), Bangalore, on Saturday. Shivakumar was delivering a lecture at the regional science centre on `Chandrayaan' mission as part of the on-going Science Expo-2009.

Why are wasting taxpayers money on sending one man to moon, in turn this money could be used to feed lakhs of people and create more jobs.

what are your view on this?

I completely agree with you on that part where you say feed lakhs people. But then this attempt to send one man to moon will also create jobs and its gonna get India ahead technologically. We need to strike a balance on how the taxpayers amount are sent. Btw the date 2025 is really long, that is just pushing thing's I guess

let me complete the sentence, "An Indian will be on the moon by 2025, begging for a good, safe life and a humble broadband connection"

specially the safe part.... let alone all the millions who go with a single meal a day, and millions more without even that....

these people ruling us are screwed.

This is why we learn History at school.

Why? It tells you how the world became like this. Imagine when in early 1500s European countries spent gold in exploring new lands. They built US, Canada, Australia, Newzealand etc and brought home a lot of Gold and wealth which accounts to their current prosperity.

Moon and other planets & Satellites are abundant with a lot of minerals which we can bank on. For that we need to be ahead in technology. May be there is large reserve of Gold & diamonds, precious metals and ores etc. That is the whole purpose of Chandrayan and other missions. Actually they can bring much more than we spend on it.

I support this mission as it can revel many things to the coming generation and as said by meetdilip it may have many things up there which are precious to us .... "Only thing i say is use that money to go to moon not to just leave people here starving"
Means : Use the money, go to moon & do something good worldwide but not just eat all the money fill your belly and sleep off.... The most of our politicians do the same....

    I SUPPORT IT ..!
