It also has all of Africa under it by satellite. Though it is a digital audio system but the users can receive one way high speed digital data transmission from the satellite. WorldSpace is a low cost receiver that is a combination of a digital radio receiver and a data receiver. One can use this technology for the transmission of websites and files from Internet. One should note that World Space is only a one way data transmission and has to be combined with other method of data transmission.

Yes, worldspace has failed in India.
You can still see many shopping/food outlets switching from WS radio to playing personalized playlist on computers. I think if the copyright law become stringent then WS would gain popularity.
