Gujrat Govt. has put a permanent ban on the import of the kite strings from china & the decision has been heartily welcomed by local kite makers.
Until now, almost 50 percent of the strings in local markets were made in China. However, a recent ban has given moments of joys to the local kite makers/sellers. The profits have risen almost 20 percent instantly.
The chinese threads were banned by the forest & the environment dept. as they are made of plastic & often pose harm to birds, Also, these are the good conductors of electricity & can cause any damage.
The ban has come at a crucial time when Gujrat celebrates the harvest festival of Uttarayan where kite flying is a tradition, thus, a peek season for kite sellers.
