Cold waves in the northern part of India breached all previous records. Chandigarh, Haryana, Punjab & UP are the most affected areas. Number graph of people dying due to intense cold in these states is increasing day by day.

Amritsar in Punjab has been recorded as the most coldest region, with minimum of 1.2 degree celsius. While Ludhina & Patiala regions of Punjab are hanging around 6-8 degree.

The Union Territory is too shivering with cold, the minimum temperature recorded in Chandigarh yesterday was 5 degree celcius. The weather here has seriously affected the air traffic. Not even a single flight has been able to take off or land at the Chandigarh Airport in past three days. Air India, Jet, GO Air, Kingfisher & MDLR are the major companies which operate here.

A rain fall in most parts of punjab has somewhat helped in clearing the fog but cold waves are still at their best. According to the Climate Control dept, there are still no hopes of a clear weather in near future.

Talking about Haryana, Ambala, Karnal & hissar are mostly affected with around 6.5-9 degree temp.

Almost all of the Govt as well as private school in northern region have extended their winter break till 14th Jan. Also, the timing would be approx. an hour late when the school re-opens.
