    Default N-72 is terribly slow.

I got an N-72 about a year ago. The problem with the phone is that it is terribly slow. You press a button and wait for at least four to five seconds before the menu opens. I have tried formatting the memory card, and resetting the phone to the factory settings. I've also downloaded the software and update from the Nokia site, but they just don't run properly. Most of the time the phone just doesn't connect to the computer (through USB cable). I thought there might be a virus in the phone, so I even installed an antivirus, but still, there's no improvement.

I am not the only one facing this problem: I have another friend who has the same mobile, only hers is slightly faster than mine. But she also keeps complaining of slow speed, and said that she wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone.

And yes, the phone eats up the battery like anything.

Anyone here on the forum, who has this phone, are you facing any such problems? If you have, have you done anything that has solved the problem?

    Thanks.

Agree with you... eats a lot of battery.
Updating the firmware increased the speed a little. If you are using an external memory card....try using one with lower memory & see if you notice any difference.

N72 is slow mobile phone.when you press the menu buttons it takes alot of time.its not because of less storage memory card.its because it is made such.other phones in the same category work bit faster.i have a 512mb external in it.but still the problem is same.my memory card got corrupted.beware of taking out the memory card from the external pocket without giving the command remove m card,.i took it out directly and the memory card got corrupted.the phone is incredibely good.like its good camera radio option.but all this is nothing with problems like slow menu and app opening and low battery out time.i think n70 is much better.

Default Same Here but now improved

I also brought N72 for my wife six months ago. But after a month I also notice a significant decrase in performance. As per my experience, I think that if your memory card is full with stuff then it could be one reason of slow speed and also it seems to be a manufacturing defect in N72.

    hi friends

i am also using it from a long time... this phone is good as i have seen it you may not believe i have tried more than 20 phones to be exact 23, all brands from (1999-2000).... and in nokia i found this is very good....

yes i have heard many people complaining about the speed....... i guess you people have dropped it more often and had a rough use of it.... the only drawback of this phone is the RAM of this phone is very delicate so that might be the problem.....

suggestion is : try removing the memory card, then format the phone with *#7370# & *#7780# both you do it.... for every code you use the handset will restart one is for factory settings and another is fully format the handset to a new handset...... then use the phone without the memory card, in 2-3 min you will surely know the difference if it solves the issue then format the memory card & install all your applications again ..... if it does not then sorry friends have it checked by a good mobile repair shop ( i will not recommend nokia service center) try any other private shops...

do post your results as it may help others also and my knowledge also

I've already fully resetted the phone back to factory settings with the code, and also formatted the memory card. Earlier there was some 20 or 30 MB in the memory card (out of 512 MB), now it is totally empty, but still the problem persists. I never thought of removing the memory card though; I'll try that, as it is it is not being used at all. And the phone has been like this right from the beginning, even before I started dropping it...

have you installed any appilcations and have reduced the phone memory.
Try installing applications on Memory card only.

i bought n72 2 yrs ago, its speed is really slow. i am using a 1 gb card . whenever i open my music player it takes 2 minutes to load and another 2 minutes for processing even though i have only 17 songs. camera quality is not good. as a result i have developed a hatred towards n series despite the series having good phones

^^ N72'S CAMERA i think is the biggest boon to the phone.. cause 2mpxl and with flash...

its one of the cheapest smart s60 phone...

dont play it with a 1gb memory card full of songs and applications... fill the applications to memory card and beware of keeping anything in the phone inbuilt memory...

also do back up and dont take out memory card without proper command prompt...
