Hi guys
My old Nokia 3230 has suddenly crashed today and is not booting.

Afternoon it was working and suddenly it stoped working then i removed battery and inserted again and now its not booting just nokia screen comes and then blank thats all...

I dont want to format it as i have some data in it and want to retrieve it..

so if you have any suggestions then please let me know..!

Mostly nokia care ppl tell u to format it only..idiots dont know to repair.. Just format n upgrade

even this post is old, i just found a trick on the net and have applied it on my 3230 today, its works perfect till now.

if you encounter situation like below on your phone:

Blank screen phone unable to reboot.

Exclamation Phone only able to boot-up to "Nokia" word screen.


Do a Full phone formatting following steps below:

1. Make sure you have at least 3/4 charge of battery power left.

2. Backup your contacts list and personal files to MMC memory card.

3. Switch-off your phone.

4. Press and hold 3 keys at the same time (be carefull, dont loose patients);

a) Green Dial key,
b) * (Star) key,
c) no. 3 key on keypad

and then press the power on/off to switch on the phone.

Remember, do not let go the 3 press and hold keys until you see a formatting word screen show!

5. After a few minutes when the Full phone formatting completed, your phone would ask you to enter date and location same as on first boot up.

thanks for the update gmg9 but i think you didnt read my post clearly. I wanted a solution which will rectify it without format because i had some essential data in it.

Any way thanks for the update.

i had to connect the phone with the flashing cable(used to install OS in phone). That cable will automatically use power from system to run the phone and it can read the data in the ROM also. That cable helped in reading its storage area and i got all the data back, though i didnt get in required format like text file.. just got it as a scrap file which had all the data and i extracted from it.

guys i know one trick...

take out memory and batt from the phone..

now connect first the phone with usb cable and open nokia suite,now put the battery in...

you can see the rom of the phone..

now do whateva you want..

I tried the same steps what Mickey mentioned, that didn't work either... :-(
My Nokia 3230 mobile is not booting, when I turn ON I just see a light glow and turns OFF.
I don't even see nokia picture coming up.
I need to take a backup of contacts(which are very imp to me n have 342 contacts :-( )

So any one can help me ASAP.
