Default Nokia - Empire Strikes Back

Nokia with its latest Lumia additions and Microsoft partnership strategy definitely looks ahead to capture indian market . 3 days back they won the IDEA design awards and has been showing 27 % improvement in sales in the first quarter of 2013.

    Lumia options include
    1. Lumia 920
    2. Lumia 820
    3. Lumia 720 (Top selling phone in flipkart)
    4. Lumia 620
    5. Lumia 520(The most affordable and Best selling windows phone in india)

Basic smartphone in Nokia Asha series is becoming a big hit among entry level smartphone and has also won the award at mobile congress.

Dont forget the upcoming flagship phone lumia 925 in india.

Does it look like nokia is gonna grab the top spot back in india from samsung which they were holding for long long years ??

I think it just might hit the top spot, because of the vast range of lumia phones they are launching, and especially with the latest being a Windows OS. Not only the looks are good, but the specs are fab too. The one thing that I think may affect the sales is the cost of the phone, but then again there are plently of people who usually shell out hat much money for a phone.

yeah !! but i guess the lumia 520 under 10k and lumia 720 under 20k is well capable of grabing atleast 3/4 th of the smartphone market shares in india.

True! For those who cant afford the latest will settle for the others which are low in cost but as good.

So are Nokia not making other phones now, as it just seems to be the Lumia models being launche? Or maybe they are just advertising just the Lumia or the better range phones!

As of now nokia's main attention is definitely on Lumia series , however the asha phones are also in the streamlines.

I think they either are focusing on the high end phones or the very basic phones.

I dont think Nokia will do as well in the market as it used to. There was a time when the trend of mobiles started and that where Nokia was, the phones lasted for some time and the carried on with their launches into at least late 2010, then there came other manufacturers who coming up with better phones, Apple being one of them. Later other manufactuers starts making smart phones with touch screen and thats where Nokia got left behind.

Agree that the Lumia range is good, but the sales previously have not been too wonderful either, which is why I think it wont overtake the Samsung spot.

I guess they are currently focusing on all segments starting from 5k to 35 k range. I feel they have atleast one phone for each segment.

its true that nokia fell behind in touch based phone segment initially but we must agree that they have come back strong enough with lots of innovations and quality stuffs for people to reconsider their buying decision . Only time will tell if existing android users can adapt or migrate to the new style of smartphone usage. its difficult though but not impossible when you get good quality at reasonable price range.

I think the biggest comeback factor for Nokia is the Windows OS they have on their Lumia phones.

To be more specific, of course the windows phone 8 OS has helped them gain popularity . But it doesn't take the credit away from nokia simply because nokia themselves made so many useful applications for end users which according to my experience are the best ones that a smartphone user must have.
Some of them like nokia city lens, nokia here drive , nokia here maps , nokia glam me, smartshoot, cinemagraph , creative studio ,nokia music are truly amazing apps.
Also dont forget the pureview technology implemented by nokia for camera's.
Even the build quality is superfantastic.
And who can forget the wireless charging which they introduced .
So its a 50-50 game where in both nokia and microsoft has done all the hard work to get back into the game.
Ofcourse you know what can happen when two empires join hands.

Man man! the thing is that NOKIA'S productions is very very slower as compared to SAMSUNG last year every next month samsung introduced a new phone and NOKIA was far behind in it..

i just dont know why samsung does that but then also some of its phones are not good like galaxy y duos prossesor suc k s and a few more phones but then also they earn a quite well.

Nokia: i dont remember whats that lumia model but it hangs when using internet so not all lumia is good the best lumia is the 1 thats the costliest

ARE U A NOKIA COSTUMER CARE REPRESENTATIVE?

i dont know if we can consider companies producing new smartphone every month to rule smartphone market. if samsung is doing that i dont know the reason behind it . Definitely not many companies do release phones on monthly basis neither did nokia when they were at the peak of the sales few years back.

Also it doesnt require one to be a nokia care representative to learn about smartphone features and gathering opinions on a companys future based on its current performance in the market.

At the same time i feel company deserves some accolades when it is doing good let it be android, blackberry or ios.

Is that something you experienced with a lumia phone or someone you knew had expereinces. If its a one off thing then you expect all the models to be like that, but if there are more than 2,3,4 people saying that the phone hangs when using internet then you can say its not a good phone. Reviews count, but just one review cant make you judge about a phone.

Ah yes the big fighting time for Nokia to make it to the throne. Since the past launched of Nokia Lumia phones nothing great has happened, yes its made Nokia more noticeable in the market, but regarding sales in India, well there Samsung has beaten them. Regarding the new launch of their Nokia Lumia 925, well I think they haven't really advertised as much! Or you can say very few people are talking about it unlike people talk about the latest Samsung Galaxy S4 and so on.

You do have a point Rockstar, but if you think of it the products that dont do well or maybe have no way of getting ahead in the market are advertised. Good products dont need to be advertised as much. But if you put this statement in the view of Nokia and Samsung, then it applies about 50%, because generally only some phone brands are advertised not all. Thinking of it Lumia did have quite a few ads for thier phones, I think it was the one where they say that the camera in the phone is shake resistance and easily captures images, something like that I think, no too sure!!!!

The only way we will find out which will do better is after the high end phone Nokia 925 is launched.

well...m not sure with the launch dates but i am guessing to be july itself seeing the way 920's prices were tweaked. Well if we talk about ads i feel nokia has done its part with the existing lumia phones. There were quite a few ads on lumia 920 during EPL ,IndAus series and some other premium TV shows. So its not that they are not marketing it well. Now when we talk about 925 the chances are odd for high end marketing.
its simply because 925 is not a complete upgradation of 920 like the galaxy s4 from s3. 925's major focus was to provide metal case finishing and give it a premium feel rather than the colorful options of 920 . So there agenda was to target another set of customers who dont want colorful phones but might like to stick with the regular black and white ones.
Also the weight is less compared to the 920 giving it an edge for fans who dont want to make their pockets heavy. Software upgradations in lumia 925 will be available to 920 users by august and hence there is nothing big to boast on any difference in that segment.
So the point is you may or may not expect ads for 925 as i said its just a minor tweak here and there on 920 by nokia to fit in an empty slot of customers. Lets wait and watch what happens with the latest flagship !!

i dont think it would delay the launch till next year . A July release in US can somehow give a hope of November release in INDIA.
