I made a few mistakes in the previous post and the major one being I didnt mention that adsense now requires a site to be atleast six months old as advised by a lot of bloggers... this is something new they have introduced so please take it easy on applying for your adsense account.


I have seen a few members here who have started their own blogs but they are not doing it right in my opinion.

I will take an example here (Appologies for not asking for your permission before posting here... I dont know what your ID is here.. I hope you would be happy to get some traffic from here in the process.)

The blog I am talking about is : Ranjeet's Blog

There are a lot of mistakes I will point out at so others do not repeat them and its always a good idea to work on a live example.

1) The choice of blog name is not a good one and will not help bring in any traffic as not many people will be searching for the term "shuranjeet" So it is advisable to get a domain name that interests you and is also searched by a lot of people and you can find this out at Google Trends

2) Although the blog is very young but not even a single post i more then a couple of lines. I would suggest you write atleast 200-300 words blog posts on topics that interest you and make it as interesting for your readers as possible.


3) There are no inbound links to this blog ( except for the one which is going to be in this thread) My suggestion would be >> submit to a few good free directories as mentioned in the previous post http://www.indiabroadband.net/online...e-adsense.html (How to make money online with adsense)

4) Write about topics that will be in news in the near future for example you can concentrate on topics like Videocon d2h which is due to be launched soon and if you can manage to get into the top5 on google for this keyword you will get lots of traffic from google.


If you have started a blog after getting the knowhow from here (or anywhere really) and would like to get some suggestions please feel free to PM me and I will write an extended post for you on what you can do to improve your blog and get more traffic from search engines. Please be as specific as possible on what exactly you would like me to have a look at in your blog or website.

I am sure if you follow these simple instructions it will make a huge impact on the amount of traffic you get in the long term

That e-mail was sent to well over 30 thousand members Ranjeet should get more then 20-50 thousand visitors from this thread alone in the next few months starting from today... so I would suggest Ranjeet should make his blog more interesting and start posting some good posts as a lot of visitors will return to see if you have anything interesting in future

Thank You Admin for Considering my blog to review, you or any other one in the forum never need my permission about posting regarding my blog. every point suggested by you about my blog is true and welcome. i am just getting use to of blogging as i am new to it as you can see most post (13 out of 17) of my blog is of the same day when i was trying to learn about blogging. i m not very regular to my blog but i will try to make it a habit. i m very much interested in good content. as you can see that it is a bit difficult to me to put my thought in black n white. that is the reason of posting few line in every post but soon you will see some improvement in my blog. hope you and all others will keep reviewing it. just saw you r comment in my wordpress blog and again thank you for it. i know that wordpress don't support ad sense. don't remember exactly but i think i know it because of your forum only. can any one suggest me how i can put a gadget or something in my blog to track the number of users. thank you in advance. after ur advise i started my site..though my domain name is not something people look for, it was a mistake from me to choose a domain name like that. But i belive i can make up in the content i post their..admin i wud like to know more on increasing my site's traffic from search engines....what i think is websites/blogs must be more google friendlier and allow search bots to crawl your webpages easily..

sahuranjeet You can use Google Analytics to track visitors and its one of the best thing to use and its FREE

It will not take more then 5 mins for you to register and put the code in the header on your blog.

mahehellraiser is that drupal on your site by any chance?
If yes then there is an option to use seo friendly URL's in Drupal all you have to do it go into the control panel and turn it on.

It helps a lot in ranking well if you have the title in the url as well.

sahuranjeet While you get your adsense account you can get an account with AdBrite: The Internet's Ad Marketplace and use their ads for the time being Its not as good as adsense but its still some money ... every little helps.. doesnt it?

No its not real time I think it refreshes every 6 hours or so...
Google analytics will always show less visitors then your awstats will show (for those who have own domains hosted with cpanel) And I have found cnstats to be the best paid stats script whcih is pretty easy to install and gives you a very good day by day break down of all the stats unlike awstats which will give you keywords stats on a monthly basis and not on a daily basis.

Some excellent tips by admin.
Some points based on my experience on SEO
It's very important that your posts be min 200 words for the sake of seo.[already mentioned by admin]
For backlinks use digg.com and propeller.com This will help you to get your site indexed faster.
Use images [with alt tag]in your posts. You will get traffic from google images.
Post regularly and ping your sites using pingomatic.com
For blogger and wordpress blogs, get your rss feed and submit it to feedage.com

I got the email and did visit the blog mentioned in the op. I haven't been able to get myself to blog for more than 3 days so I can't really offer much advise but since the topic is about making money online I would just say that blogging isn't the easiest way to make money unless ofcourse you like to blog, have a fair bit of knowledge about a certain topic, are good with words or can make up for it by providing some information that is exclusive. So, blog if you like to write don't blog for the money coz there might not be any . Just what I learnt from my attempts at blogging. Also regarding the name of the blog being related to the keywords you are targeting. I completely agree that it helps in SEO and you could get better rakings of Search Engines but ultimately what matters is quality content. Think about these names Digg, Slashdot, Propeller, Orkut, Flickr I can't think of too many Indian blogs except for labnol (maybe coz I don't really read blogs). Anyway the point is "Content is King" and like a lot of the sites I mentioned if your content is good enough the name won't matter but yes for the average blogger it helps to have a name that targets related keywords. Anyway since there are reviews being given out I would appreciate all honest opinions about my site YeaWo (can't post Url's yet but it should be easy to find using google or you could just add . com at the end of it) and since the Admin owns this forum I would love to hear from him about how should one go about building community driven sites in India.
