Thread: Blogger and Adsense Help Needed

Hi all, I need some Blogger and Adsense related Help Here.

I have just started blogging. I am using Blogger initially and am busy with designing the blog. I am modifying a custom template myself to include some of the special features of other templates. I signed up for an adsense account about a year ago and never really got the time and dedication to start a blog. My account is activated and i already can place adsense ads on my blogs(i have tried it).

My main interest is to maintain a good technology blog which will contain various gadget reviews, software tweaks, tech news etc. But I also am planning to create another bollywood blog - containing only celebrity pics as it would be very easy to update frequently. I have seen many such blogs with adsense. Now - here comes my first doubt and query -> Is there any risk of getting banned or warned from adsense if i put ads on a pics only blog? As i said - there are many such blogs with adsense ads. The reason i have this doubt is - According to google adsense policies i dont see anything wrong with such a blog. But i dont really understand the concept of search engine bots, crawlers etc yet. I have read in some forums and sites that pics only sites may not adhere to adsense policies but on the contrary, I also have seen many people saying there is nothing wrong with such blogs and they are using adsense successfully on such blogs/sites for years. Plz Guide me here.

I know it is not legal to create more than one adsense account. But if someone gets banned for whatsoever reason - can he never ever use adsense with another account? How does google detects multiple accounts from the same person?

Plz - tell me the very first steps after creating a blog with some posts on it. How to get my blog(s) listed to search engines? I have posted 4-5 posts on one of my blogs and it has been alread over a week. Google search results doesnt list my blog even when i search with the exact name of my blog. How to get traffic? What is social bookmarking? How to use feeds for increasing traffic? What exactly are directory listings? Other ways of getting my blog(s) recognized on the web and attract good traffic? I am an absolute newbie to these details. Plz mention the best sites/services belonging to the these categories. I need a very descriptive and step by step guide here. I have seen some new blogs(about a month old) coming up very high on google search results. How to get such results? What are the most useful and productive widgets to have on a blog?

I don't think implementing adsense on photo blog will get you banned. make sure you aren't posting adult content

You are using blogger, so you are automatically listed.

now find "Let search engines find your blog? ". make sure it says yes

whoa....so many questions..
My answer would be short:
First Create a Unique Content which is not available anywhere else. To get traffic and SERP you need backlinks, more they are the better it is. Period

for META tags, there are tons of results

adsense won't ban unless you post a copyrighted content.
And Search Engines hate duplicate content so they would penalize you in term of SERP.

i have done that just after creating the blog. i even tried site:myblogname.blogspot.com on google ... but no results ... this is the way to check whether a site is listed or not. i saw many people having similar complains on various places on the net ...

it has been more than 5 days that i have created my blog. according to most of the opinions i read - google generally takes 2-3 days to index new blogs/sites. but sometimes it may take more than a week , even a month.

some people complain that they dont find their blogs/sites listed in google even after such long periods. i am a bit worried over this.

No, you won't be warned by adsense if your blog is only Pics only unless you post some adult content. i agree with Gary4gar and you your self answered your question.

I don't know whether you know or not but bots are programs that crawl the web at particular interval. They index each and every page, every link, "Every word", your blog contain. They calculate the incoming links and outgoing links, "Cross linking".

It means if your blog contains links to some sites that have higher ranking in Search Engine list, then it will boost your ranking and if they have lower rankings then it will affect your rankings in Search Engine.

Bots have become smarter and they can detect "Known Cross Linking", means if you and your friend decide to link reciprocally and if it matches particular parameter then it won't be helpful to you in ranking.

It also takes care of whether your content is old, or copy pasted from somewhere else. If found so then you won't be able to have adsense on your blog.

E.g It happened with me, i write one detail article on Ajax ( One of Web 2.0 Technology) on my technical blog for the newbie, in simpler terms that they can understand, which already have been written by many other people before but in complete technical jargon which newbie won't be able to understand. End result was that i don't have adsense account for my that blog. But i will try again

The URL it self should be relevant to the content on your blog. It means it should be user friendly, user should be able to understand what your blog contains.

e.g I've http://1215417.blogspot.com earlier where 1215417 is my name in Leet's language. It won't list my blog in search engine even though my blog is having relevant entry, Googled by someone on net. That is why i changed it to proper name of mine as of now.

This is Web 2.0 age that is every user is owner of it's own content. You can find about it on my blog, short but sweet. What are the parameters that is important in Web 2.0 age. Then i would say " Tagging, Podcasting, Bookmarking, Social Networking, Feeds (RSS)".

Each blogging websites have Tagging, Feeds facility. Provide Proper Tags for each post of your blog. It will boost ranking in Search Engine. I don't know others know it or not but i find Wordpress SEO better than blogger.

These are some of the parameters that decides rank for particular page.
This is what we call "Page Rank" formula of Google and how it's search listing is based on. This is one of the criteria to be listed in top 10 results of Google. It vary depend from Search Engine to Search Engine.

It's not legal to have more than one adsense account and once if he's banned then he won't be able to use adsense account. But there are some doubts regarding how adsense handles everything. One or two years back i read one article regarding how one of our Indian detected bug in adsense in Digit Magazine. He's having more than one adsense account and he was able to earn handsome by clicking on the adsense ads. I forgot the trick he has given. He also informed Google about it but they didn't accept the fact.

I think above explanation would be enough to answer your these questions and still if you are not satisfied then let me know. I will try to explain in more detail.

I also observed same thing. Main reason behind it is that they have good SEO or their content is Fresh or some other reasons. I have been noticing one site for quite a long time that is expert-exchange.com. It's a site that provides web development solution. Now i don't understand how but when ever i Google some technical problem then that site is listed in top 10 results. So i would say that It's SEO is superb.

i dont know exactly ... but the answer is no. there is some procedure to do this. notifying this to google or something like that ... i read it somewhere some time ago. this is what most blog owners do when they shift to custom domain/host.

No, there is no risk of getting banned or warned from adsense as long as you have non-adult content. My personal opinion is starting pic blog will take lot of time to get optimize in search engines. As Pic blogs have tiny content, and content is what attracts visitors and search engines towards your site. The more content you have the more keywords you can target.

If you create multiple accounts your accounts will be banned. You can create two accounts with two different names, address and the ip address. IP is what google traces.

After created a blog, IMHO, you should atleast post 25 posts so that you will have some database to show the visitors or else visitors will leave your site in just few mins. To get listed in search engines you need to submit your blog to them. I have listed some of the search engine submission page on this thread.

Nowadays, social bookmarking is the best way to get instant traffic. Social bookmarking are the sites where you can save you fav. web pages by creating an account. Via feeds users can get your latest news or article on their homepage.

Directories are the library of websites where different categories and sub-categories are listed and are mainly used to get backlinks and can generate only 1% of traffic for you site.

The fast way to get your site listed in search engines is to submit your articles on digg.com or linking to high PR sites which gets update frequently.

Search engine optimization is not an easy task. It needs lots of patience and consistency in work. I suggest you to search on wikipedia.org about SEO you will get all the info you needed.

Have you submitted your blog to feedburner?
It provide various widgets to keep on ur blog... For example- mail subscription, subsription through RSS etc...

To know about recent visitors you can use widget from MyBlogLog... It also shows the sites authored by the recent visitors...

Widget from FEEDJIT real-time blog traffic feeds is also kool to keep track of the trafik coming to ur blog... it also shows the location of visitors...

Best way to know things about blogging is that you keep visiting various blogs around the net... There are many good bloggers out there... You can learn a lot through just sniffing at their blogs...

Well, Remember one more point that keywords you use in the content, keep them where they are necessary. Not stuff the keywords and keep the keywords density in between 3.5% to 5%, it will help you to get better search results and ranking as well.
