there are freelance sites which you can register into like... getafreelance ,
bizreef , elance etc .there article writing and editing projects are posted by people ..all you need to do is see if you fit the bill and put a bid on the project.

the project owner chooses the best bidder and grants him/her the project. it might take a while before you land a projest though, but they pay good as most of the projects come from abroad.

or else in social networking sites like orkut you find communities "online contend writers", you are bound to find jobs there though not as rewarding.

but be alert as many of these project givers can be fake.

These are not a simple as posted in first thread, at the top, The site is pretty competitive and only the ones who would have adequate professional outlook with bio data to prove it would be hired by others.

    Exclamation I agree with 'mwaraitch'

I agree with 'mwaraitch'. it is a highly competitive field and should have thorough knowledge about it. also not everyone fits into this kind of job even if one has the sufficient skills. also the comment from 'alexina' that some projects can be fake suggests the probability that most of it is likely to be fake and payments will not come through once the work is done. what if the site is run by an organized crime syndicate. 'online' is a place where no one knows the other or the legality of anything that is offered. most of the payment methods offered also not safe ones.
In such a circumstance, any overseas online job will turn out to be a nightmare. Many of them ask for high joining fees to access their privilaged data which itself is an indication these are run by scamsters or people who are not into genuine businesses.

Correct me if I am wrong. So far my experience is terrible about online jobs, even though I never tried any or got cheated. Bad Experiences of others can definitely be a good guide and indicator of the potential pitfalls lying ahead.

well dont got for the ones that ask for a joining fee, they can cheat. but i have been doing odd freelance writing jobs i got through the social networking site "orkut".
yes the sites i mentioned earlier do ask for some expertise. These jobs are even advertised on job sites like monster and naukri.
most of the topics can be boring ones which you cant relate to, but then you wil have to do your homework on the net.

Its better to take look at it to see if ones expertise fits with the job offered. I am suprised that these are advertised in monster n naukri...can u show me one link from these sites, so tht it is easy for me to track it myself. thanks for this info...this is really useful one u shared with all here.

boring topics are the ones in which one does not hav any expertise. best thing is to take a look at it, understand and they see if one can acquire that expertise....

hoping to hear from u soon.

I cannot really think of getting cheated on free lancer sites, they have payment system well arranged and the one who has to get work makes payment at the site in advance, so in any way he cannot get his money back. Why should he hold and for that matter and experienced worker should also not hand over completed work till he gets his share.

our purpose of seeking online job is not t cheat. but to earn legally utilising ones talents.

and if a experienced worker starts to hold back someones work after accepting the agreed remuneration, that too amounts to cheating.

all that i was looking was, is there any genuine works that get done in cyberspace like in the brick n mortar space. Atleast in the brick n mortar space there is a personal interaction and voice communication. So tracking things is much easier. but here we are dealing with total strangers.

what i understood from interactions here is there is a possiblity of a few genuine opportunities on the cyberspace.

Well i am tracking a few of these freelancing websites for some time now ...
But what i find is that ....if you bid then you are thrown out very instantly because ....the people i mean the freelancers present there have almost ready stuff to deliver ....
I found it very difficult for a fresher to get in there for getting some job.
Well can someone suggest where can a started start?

My personal experiences have not been as bad as most here are depicting. I got work done a number of times and only on occasions had problems with quality of work and related delivery of payment from my side.
I think the way to get in to work can be any or all of following:-
    * Be gold member. normally it cost a few dollars per month, yet for the ones who have to spend money for their projects, its very hard to spend on vendors with no credentials, higher level / paid membership is some indication of your soundness.
    * Quote low in early days - May not necessarily work, yet the chances are more.
    * Have profile we prepared for kind of work you need to quote / compete. Try to figure out why someone should pay you and prepare your quote answering those questions.
    * If you do not have a profile for similar work on similar sites, at least have some demonstration ready for kind of work you are going to compete. A ready made instant demo, if well placed can defeat the best in the competition.
    Regards

    Cool

I am a writer both fiction and non fiction . i write lots of articles , scripts ,poems and plays . As a non fiction writer i write on ground report and i get some income .
I did try go freelance we have to invest . Even in biz we have to invest . people are asking for native writers . That is the whole problem .
i have also been cheated on some sites . I was asked to write articles . After writing more than twenty I was rejected .

Not all topics get the attention. Some get more than othes. this is not my personal experience, but that of a blogger whom i met at another forum.
    isn't that unfair?

For the reason that you would get bored writing articles. Those are not copy paste jobs ...you need to feed in your views.Hence the one who has passion in what he does, does his work more efficiently.Take your own example. You post here because you have passion to reply because you possess the Zeal to discuss and probably you are not thinking of anything else.
