Here is my basic idea regarding Free hosting.

1) Free hosting never provides TLD's but one can use features like [Parking,Addon,Transfer & Buy] with free+full DNS support.

2) Free hosing is always in this format [yourdomain.maindomain.com].

3) Free hosting space is always 400MB space 6 - 14 GB bandwidth/every month transfer.

Well most of the members like me use free hosts with supports mysql databases,PHP,Perl,Asp.net for Topsite hosting and they use more bandwidth as more members come.

4) Well, 10-20 mb is of no use for most of the members as one will not look at it, just move and continue search.

5) Inorder to use free hosts, a person must register at forums and make posts and not spams.

6) For free hosts, one will need to use request mode for getting more and more features.

7) You must provide some SEO, Webmaster tools, since most of the free hosts don't have them and it will be surely a plus point.

8) As always, Donations are welcome

How on the earth, they(free web hosts) could provide a TLD for free.

If we have a TLD, we can use ours. That's what I did.

The hosting space varies between 100 MB to few GBs. The same *kind* of thing with bandwidth per month.

More members -> more income -> go to paid hosting. Simple logic.

I don't understand this point. And I don't understand who gives 10-20 mb space. You said all free hosting companies give 400MB space. You mean to say 10-20 MB won't be enough for all? It may not be enough for you. I've been using only less than 1MB of my actual hosting space of 250 MB given by my free hosting provider (byethost) and I've been using it wisely to sell my services.

My host never asked me (or anyone else) to do so. In fact, half of the free web hosts don't have such kind of forum posting condition, but have different conditions like ads in the first and/or every page. Some don't have any condition at all except limited space, bandwidth and limited (php, mysql etc) functionality.

Only *very* few do so. Others don't even bother to look at our request mails.

Who must provide?

To whom? To the free web host? I never heard this. Anyway instead of giving donations, one could easily go for paid hosting. I hope this makes sense.

Well Pothi, Firstly it seems you are using Byethost Services inorder to host your site, but the major issue is that, they inject SQL injection and deactivate many sites.

Secondly, I would say if you setup a Topsite it will take 21mb of the disk-space & SQL and 10mb per member that you get, so more members = more space.

Thirdly, Donations are usually for the free host provider, in this case " it is for Admin, since he is thinking to provide free hosting in the near future " and it is done inorder to extend quality of the services and upkeep.

Admin ... its a good idea to create a poll ....Many members are into Hosting ... But many like me already own a paid one ...

there are few of them who have got this idea to start one ,from your post ....so i guess they deserve the free space

I agree with this ....I dont know about repo though

Most people forget to repo a good post unless requested...hence very few have a rep of 2 or above

Ive recieved a lot of PM's on this and I had to open all of them thinking it might have some complaint or something that cant be posted on forums It takes up a lot of time and its no use...

If there is something one wants to know about this free hosting please post here... There i nothing secret about this and we are just a small community and trust me even if we get 1000 qualifiers I can manage that much space and bandwidth.

The question most people sending PM's asked me was would they have to have my ads on their site?

NO ads and all the revenue you get out of that site you host on the free hosting will be yours I am not looking for a cut ... thats your income.

Second most asked question : What control panel would it be and would all the functions be available on it.

Answer: The free hosting will have Cpanel and yes everything functional exactly like you would get from any paid host but just one thing missing : Fantastico wont be there as its my own box and it would cost a lot of money to get Fantistico but I am here to help you install anything you would ever need and it doesnt take more then 5-10 mins to install anything on a server.

Question : Would you charge for giving the data base if some one wants to move their site to a paid hosting after some time?

Answer : This question doesnt arise as you would have Cpanel acess and you can create a backup yourself and download it whenever you like.


Question : Why are you doing this and how would you make money out of this?

Answer : I am going to provide free hosting becuse I feel like it an No I wont be making any money out of this free hosting... thats why its called free. Stop questioning my intentions please coz you have a choice to take it or not take it ... no one is forcing anyone. Another reason is that this would help Indian economy in the long run in a big way How? >>> If say in the next one year 1000 members get free hosting here they would all put together make millions of $$$ every year after a few years and that money would come straight into India hopefully some of you would pay your taxes and make the nation stronger in the process a lot of those people will introduce more friends to this place and in the years to come we would get thousands of people started with their own website and let them host their sites free of charge untill they start making enough money to pay for a good paid hosting which normally doesnt take more then 2-3 months at the most.. the first two to three months are the hardest and lots of people give up their projects thinking they would never make profits but here they wont as they would be hosting without having to pay and eventually start getting profits from their sites
Yeh every site starts from a big ZERO... takes time.

By the way you have to be living in India to avail this free hosting.


Question : when would this hosting be available?

Answer : I dont know.. It might take two months or even three... may be 4 I wont make false promises. It will be done sooner or later.


Question : Can I get windows hosting?

Answer : No its only going to be linux.

Question : Would there be any support? Would you provide your mobile no to call if there is a problem with the hosting?

Answer : Yes there will be support but that would be using this forum not over the phone or by e-mail. No I will not provide my mobile no. Any problem with the server will be taken care of by the same guy who takes care of the server this site is on and I guess uptime for this forum is not bad atall...


There are a lot of other questions as well but I cant remember them so if you have a question which I have missed out on please post here and do not PM me please.
