Question Windows 7 : are you upgrading

Will you upgrade to windows 7 or have you already upgraded ?
Well for me iam still very much happy with windows XP may be I will switch after about 2 years when all bugs are removed or well I will take windows 7 when i buy the new laptop but that will be more of compulsion lol!

Or may be I upgrade directly to win 8 which is already underwayaccording to reports ! I mean well how long before vista was out n here we have windows 7 isnt this pretty fast? Vista had not even settled well, Microsoft should have waited for atleast a couple more years .

I don’t know about windows 7 but well many of my friends using vista are very disappointed in fact many of them say they were more likely to switch back to XP rather than go in for an upgrade

What do you think about windows 7? Or do u prefer windows XP

I will switch to W7 as soon as I get a graphics card. I kept it on hold because my motherboard does not support aero theme.

    well i am on it.
its really really fast. atleast 3x than XP.
I haven't faced any bug till now.
I moved from XP>>Win7. (no vista)

Just give it try & u will never regrete. just do clean installation & not upgrade, if u really wanna test performance of 7

I have already used W7 ultimate RC1, but I found out that XP was better. Even I have tried the same on my new laptop with 4 Gs of RAM. Although the performance was all the same but I liked the simplicity of Xp. W7 is unnecessarily complicated.

Vista users wont find W7 complicated. Though if u want to use 32-bit OS & still have a li'l bit old config machine then go for XP. but if ur system supports 64-bit then install W7 64-bit. With more option to upgrade ur ram its surely a better choice to go.
Btw theres always the "F1" to find it out ur problems with W7

but W7 64(Vista 64 as well) has compatibility issues with 32 bit softwares.

it does , bt do you expect 100% working & correct things with all new stuffs?? though most of the s/ providers now launching W7 compatible versions, most of the h/w are coming with W7 driver. (even the old ones) , its better to switch to it.. XP is legend but you cant go long , @ some point of time you do have to switch...

p.s. frequent switching is harmful fr ur health :P

Unfortunately there is saturation point for every software where you won't be able to enhance the functionality, which has happened since Windows vista and its byproduct, AKA windows 7. The OS is only being polished more and more.

As far as service providers are concerned I think you are talking about branded PCs which come about 20% costlier than assembled PCs.
    The math is simple ,
if you want to be driven by Windows 7, you buy a windows PC(branded PC),
if you want to drive Xp you preferably go for an assembled PC where eventually you can try not only Xp but but also any open source OS.

For example my laptop has 4Gigs of RAM(LINUX preloaded) and runs W7 like a chocolate and does not run Xp if I don't convert my SATA mode to native IDE in BIOS because of the RAID driver problem(which I was unaware of when I bought). But still I found out the way to run Xp which took me sometime to learn to insert the driver in to Xp and remaster it because I did not want to run W7.

So if you chose the easy way then spend some money and upgrade to W7 if want to spend some time instead of money then learn how to run Xp better than W7 with the set of tools you already have.

    not true

I have successfully crashed W7 a number of times.
The moment RAM usage crosses 2.5GB and you are running 5-5 heavy apps, dooooooooooooom, screen freezes ,sometimes crash.

again, if you hibernate W7 with loads of programs running or with the above scenario(more RAM being used) , disaster while restore

    wow nice configuration

it even works on my old computer with 2 gb ddr2 ram, pentium D 2.8ghz, 80gb no graphic card.

and also works fine on my core 2 duo computer (new)

xp vs win7 , i think win 7 is much better than xp.
