FREEBSD have released the their production version 8.0.
Free BSD is one of the most secure , having the best networking feature and is documented open source OS. Also it is used by Yahoo , netcraft and other enterprises.
To install anything in Free BSD you have to use ports. You can either take binary or compile your own. Currently their are more than 21000 thousands ports.
Also Linux compatibility or Free BSD Linux emulation have been raised to 2.6.16 i.e fedora 10.
Supported Gnome version have been updated to 2.26.3 and KDE version to 4.3.1.
It has brought improvement to virtualisation and support for zfs file systems i.e. solaris filesystems. Also it supports all major vendors device drivers for 10Gbps network.
