    Hi,

My primary OS is Linux (Ubuntu 8.04) running in a desktop PC.
Secondary is Windows (XP) that came preinstalled in my laptop.

However, I've tested others too viz Vista, Kubuntu (7.10), Edubuntu (7.10), Redhat, OpenSuse(10 & 11), Mandriva and Debian (Etch).

    Hi GuruSam,

Voted now. And edited my post too, to include other distributions that I've tested and worked with.

I use Windows Xp. I have used Ubuntu and Freespire. But nothing beat Windows Xp. Almost every third party tools support Windows Xp.
BTW. You didn't mention Freespire or Linspire.

Why this pointless poll? I can tell you the general percentage right now:

    a) About 60% people use XP/Pro or XP/Home
    b) About 20% people use Vista (various flavours)
    c) About 7% people use Linux versions like Ubuntu.
    d) About 10% people use Mac-OS
    e) The rest are all others. Solaris, AIX, IRIX, etc. are server specific only.

I'm currently using xp for my deskptop... cuz most games run on it... & have dual boot XP & Vista on my lappy(use Vista most times)... I havnt faced any driver compatibility issue with Vista either in my laptop or dektop... but yes... many games or 3rd party s/w r still not for Vista... But Vista knows better how to efficiently use a multi-core processor...

    Wud love to try Ubuntu...

The choice is yours of course. But what is the big deal in not voting? It required just 2 clicks. Or are you talking about this poll only?

Why waste time in typing that message ^

Also you need to take down two of those signature links ^^^ Only two are allowed as per Just4kix's announcement...
I would have done that for you but I didint know which ones you would like to keep and which ones you would want to remove so best if you do it yourself

    Thanks

I use Vista Home Premium and didn't face any major problem till yet. The best thing i like about vista is that most of the hardwares i use with my laptop like Camera, Mobile, Printer and my Creative Mp3 Player(Which Needs driver for XP) didnt required any drivers Vista on its own configured them for my use.

But it uses lot of Ram as compared to XP.

windows server 2003 is good one but still i don't like it due to the name involved and the price which we need to pay for it, its not free for students too

Windows vista ultimate sp1. Will be switching to 64 bit. No such major issues but there are certain tweaks needed. I have 2 GB skills and e7200 clocked to 3.5 ghz. On idle, ram consumption is 28% and core consumption 1-5% on idle.

Quite obvious mate, vista loves to eat resources and it need good RAM to run properly, 2GB RAM is good enough but still according to me Vista needs atleast 4GB RAM to work cool and to show the Graphics.
