Hi Folks

A happy new year to all of you and your loved ones.may 2K7 be your best year yet..

I have recently started taking interest in Cable Internet.
I hardly know anything about the technology & issues, but I hope to learn more at this forum.

India currently has a massive consumer base of cable tv viewers, perhaps more than 60 million of them, and yet the penetration level is hardly 55% !

The infrastructure is disorganised, chaotic and no policy/regulator really providing it a direction.

But given the growing challenge from DTH, IPTV and (soon?) WiMax, the cable industry here really must collectively perform something great to ensure a secure future.

I am sure the policy, the business model and the technology required here would be unique to India and would require a lot of innovation/killer apps..

We are reintroducing CAS from Jan 1 and look at the tumult it has caused already!

Thats it for now..I am looking at this forum to provide me some insights.

Cable internet is already in many parts of India. Actually my ISP, asianet is basically a cable tv company.
