Which is the best DTH service in india??..Tata Sky,Dish Tv,Ortel or any other local company..Do post your views about this..For me it has to be Tata Sky..Great plans with amazing games and a very co-operative customer service

For me dishtv is the best DTH, and their are lots of reason for that let me list some them:

Based on my experience i am giving you the difference and better option to choose:First: Number of channels are more in dishtv (178) and tatasky (120)
Second: More number of regional channels for all genres. Tatasky lacks in this
Third: More options in Movie on demand and also choice to see hollywood Movie as well...but Tatasky lacks in this option
Fourth: Cost per movie for movie on demand is less in dishtv Rs.40+taxes for Hindi and Rs.50+taxes for English.....where as tatasky charge Rs.75 for Hindi...No english option...Tata sky lacks here as well.
Fifth: Economical: Dishtv is more economical then tatasky about Rs.1000 also having offer for five months free...but tatasky donot have any offer and are more costlier.
Sixth: Harware of both are same quality.
Seventh: Picture and sound quality is same almost.
Eight: Customer service of dishtv is coming up and having slightly better then tatasky.

* I am a dishtv user for about 2 years and i thought this was the right time to review a product after having a good amount of exp in using dishtv.*

*** I was just reviewing this product since begining as i have selected this product way back in 2005 and that time it was the only option available for me and the reason of choosing dishtv is i am fed up with my cable hassels and worst quality services offered by them.
** I have choosen dishtv and with in 48 hrs of my purchase the product was installed at my house and all channels were started working*, first , i was amazed by the picture quality its was just like DVD very crystal clear picture and great sound.
* second, At that time they don't have that much channels but by know they have almost 175 channels and i suppose they have all the channels which i can think of to have on my tv. and even right know also after tatasky entered into market but still they don't have that much of channels to offer and that was best part of dishtv also they have a wide range and variety of regional channels which right now nobody is providing other than dishtv.*
** Third, if talking about their customer service and hardware, though i can say their customer service is not the best but still i feel its better then others( even i can say its better as compared to Tata sky which most of my friends say, but i cannot comment on that as i have not exp Tata sky). and also talking about their hardware its good till now i haven't face any problem with the hardware and working fine.
Further their remote is very user friendly and light weighted ( whereas i have seen tatasky remote which is little bigger in size and more bulky) and also i like their EPG system very much which gives us update on program schedule on any channel also reminder and alert facility is pure value added to the service.*
*** Further talking about their valuse plus services, like active services and also games, active movies,sports, news are just awsome which gives us a feel of having complete entertainment in one package.*** Pricing : at that moment price was a little on higher side but now its more affordable and economic then others.*
* Their payments option are also in wide range and provide us flexibility like ITZ cards, credit card, retail outlets money order , check and draft facility are good enough.*
** The only proble which i face was in rainy seasons and in bad whether, where signal are completely off for a while and then restore in some time say 2-10 min.** Rest what all i can say is its a good product in all with having good features and good no.of channels.
*** and what i can suggest if any body is looking for a change,*dishtv is best option available but before buying try to check others as well, as this was solely my views on dishtv.

Well one more good new for all dishtv viewers just wanted to share to you all, Today i have seen two more channels are aded on dishtv platform mega tv and makkal tv on channels number 1580 and 1600. So more reasons for all south viewers of dishtv to enjoy with almost all Tamil channels.

As far as tata sky is concerned, i have witnessed the lazyness and the non concerning attitude of tata sky towards its viewers. Its amazing that they cant even respond to their own committments. I would never recommend tata sky to any one.

as most of you wld know DVI is the best way to get video signal into an LCD TV...but i havent heard of any STB with a DVI out...

so in essence the cheap STBs from our DTH service provides make the digital MPEG2/4 signal convert to analogue to transmit to the TV, where it converts back digital..leading to a generation loss.

if anybody know if any DTH STB comes with a DVI out..pls shout & let me know..

pls. check out all the free offers before you buy any DTH services. Most of the free bee offeres are like an iceberg. which can sink any Titanic. check out the monthly subscription charges after free offer period, you will be shocked to know that it is a white elephant. I would advice you to check out the genuine offers before you buy a DTH service. you should also check the repairing charges & annual maintenance contarct charges after warranty period, number of popular channels available on the platform, value added services etc..

I like Tata sky......its been a year sice i had it
I have not seen or used anything other than tata sky ...so cannot really compare.

though i would like the option to chose single channels instead of the whole pacakage

Tata sky is what I use and I like it very much... havent had any issues with it so far except for when it rains.

When it rains, for the first 5~10 minutes there is disturbance.After that there's no issue.

Yes thats about it really but if you are watching something important or watching something you really like and you cants watch the 5-10 mins of it in between it really spoils the fun.
