I think the choice is Sify and I will not advice it.

You would be better off with Airtel or MTNL unless you have some specific reasons to go with cable BB.

yes sify is available everywhere in south delhi but please dont go for it.. there are lot many known problems with sify..

please check with Airtel or MTNL in your area.. if you can get airtel that would be great... but sify is really not a good idea...

    Appreciate your replies.
I was hoping for a faster internet connection through cable.
But I guess thats not practical yet.
I wanted Aitel but it is not available in my area.
I already have MTNL and TATA.
Problem with MTNL is that although I have a 512 UL plan they reduce my speed to 256 kbps every month (which takes me a week to get my speeds back up to 512 kbps - making endless calls and going to the mtnl office :taz: ) it is a really frustrating and distressing experience.

I have had a very tough time with sify all these years but for the last one month I havent had even a single min of downtime and its all down to the new guy who is looking after the cable network these days.

Find out how sify service is in your locality as it all depends on the local cable operator and sify doesnt really have much role to play in the last mile connectivity and thats normally where most of the problems occur.

If sify is doing well in your area then you can go for it... Dont forget to negotiate on installation charges.. I know people who havent paid anything for installation althought I paid Rs2500 a few years ago.

admin is 100% correct... it purely depends upon your local provider..
here in my area provider is somewhere similar to ****... last month i gave him cheque or 700 rupees which got bounced due to putting cheque on 26th day of month.. and now i m not planing to give him even a single penny for that cheque... one of my friend said that he can not do anything legally for 700 rupees as according to him law dont entertain any case which is less than 1500 rupees..

i paid rupees 300 for installation...

Well, the fact of the matter is most Indians use the internet only to download pirated songs/movies/video.
The other side of the coin has people like me who use legal software and use their broadband primarily for gaming. And yes we are a frustrated lot. My friends in Mumbai get latencies of 400ms on servers where I struggle with 800ms+. Ofc expected latencies are "Less than 200ms". Is there a broadband service in South Delhi that can claim to give gamers a good value for money?
Just so you know, i was not referring to flash based games on "zapak"(replace with ur fave site), but serious hardcore gaming.
I am currently using Spectranet 256kbps(their highest available) through one of their Channel partners. Service is downright awful. There are some golden periods in the month when i actually get speeds of 40kbps, but its usually 15-20. Airtel is supposed to be good, though i have never tested it, but they donot provide the service to my home as all the nodes in the Distribution box right behind my house are used up. I have applied twice, and the 2nd time, my money was not even refunded. So much for reputation.

me lives in noida ad use cable internet called "image broadband"
I am surprised to see how low speed you guys get.

I pay my provider 500/month and well i do get me some pretty good speeds
here is a screen shot of it 130 -150 kbps

that is the highest and normal is some where around 40-50 kbps

All this in 500 bucks.... I am satisfied
