Hi Folks,

A great forum, I have benefitted a lot from this initiative. I am in a fix to choose ISP. I stay at Dahisar West, need an internet connection, although not necessary that I get a broadband connection. I am looking for unlimited internet facility , so that there are no hassles for extra usage. I have fixeda budget for Rs.500-550 pm . Which is the best facility according to you?

Broadband is ubiquitous now a days.. in a dial up connection it will take an hour to download a picture(photo)..

How to suggest BSNL/aIRTEL/Tataindicom/SIFY
OR rural Broadband service of BSNL. ( at reduced tariff charges with modem free !)

If BSNL BB is available in your area Home 750 at 256Kbps
speed will be OK.

Thanx a lot for replies. I stay in Mumbai, now that you know, but unfortunately, I can't take BSNL. I have to take MTNL. I was thinking of having an unlimited connection for around 500-550. However, MTNL rates are high, around 1000 bucks+ taxes. Airtel, wen i inquired, doesn't have a connection in our area. So, i am left with two options, either TATA or Reliance.. If i m very much optimistic, than i can think for Cable net.


Any idea about Reliance post paid internet service, where the charge is 400 rs. for unlimited surfing and download . The download speed offered is 75 Kbps

Garuda is based on the CDMA platform with land-line numbering pattern.
Garuda internet is CDMA 1x wireless service (similar to reliance/TATA indicom). Maximum possible speed is 144 kbps. But average speed would be much lower
Does not support roaming.

Sped may be less but i hope its better than MtNL GSm landline that i m using for internet...

Had a few doubts for Garuda…

1)They said its one of the cheapest unlimited Internet service provider in India. However, they say apart from 299 as monthly charges, one has to pay for the phone too.. Now, I have doubt that whether I have to pay monthly charges for that too. In MTNL website, they say that 150 Rs is charged as phone rent, but I am taking garuda for internet only… The call centre at Garuda said that it will be charged, while at the telephone exchange, it is said it will not be charged.. They don’t know themselves….

2)I have read mixed reviews of Garuda internet, both on the website and the forum.. However, I want to know that if MTNL has made some improvements in the service and whether the speed comes to between 100-144kbps…

Its unlimited internet use. Upload/download/surfing /Email whatever u want.

U need to purchase handset for 1500 and u get talktime of 1500. If u choose prepaid option its lifetime connection.

I went to MTNL exchange and i was told that Garuda is nt good for internet...The connection problems are many... So, wil hae to find some other ISP for unlimited use in my budget...

If u are living in dahisar east there are two good options pacenet broadband and hathway broadband while if u r staying in west there is only pacenet available which is a good optionunk:.
