Question Which service is good ???

    Hi Frndz,
Finally i am confused with the broadband service i should use. I just added a post on my worst experience with airtel broadband at: http://www.indiabroadband.net/airtel....html#post3897 (Never Use Airtel. Worst Service Provider)

But if i see other broadband forum, every where ppl are complaining about all the service providers... so finally i got confused for selecting the proper the broadband service provide... !! I think Indian companies are not doing well in even India... and there should be some US/UK based company who can give a good service...

    Can anyone guide me ?

    Hi,

I'm also looking for an ISP in India for some relatives. Can anyone please provide some guidance or direct me to some reviews? DSL vs. cable? And which specific ISP?

    Thanks.

Even though BSNL has a huge number of crappy officers, bribe-demanding field workers and lousy customer care, I can recommend no ISPs other than BSNL. Remember, India is yet to be a developed country and in a country like this, it's hardly possible for a customer to get speed+reliability+cost+free usage as desired from any ISP.
However, to provide you with 2mbps connexion @500/- with night UL and 2.5GB free at day is not possible for private ISPs.
Consider this wise decision and if you insist Internet connexion, go for BSNL and learn endurance and patience.

    Cheers

@ coolguy , BSNL is not available in Mumbai & Delhi .
Both Dehi and Mumbai are served by MTNL .

I'd say go for a BSNL Home 500 plan (256 kbps upto 2 Mbps, 2.5 GB upload/download limit, Night Unlimited) or BSNL Home 1000 (384 kbps upto 2 Mbps, 5 GB upload/download limit, Night Unlimited)

I had been using Airtel and i would say that they are the best service providers. Till date i have not faced any customer care problem even thoug there had been some service problems which one of there representatives fixed within 1-2 hours. I would highly recommend them.

I too agree with Saurav that BSNL which has all the infrastructure has the best net in terms of speed and reliability. But when your connection gets any issues like got cut or disconnection, then only there will be issues you will be facing. That too they have improved a bit. They call you and sometimes rectify your issues through phone itself, which I feel will save time for both party. But connection wise they are best and service wise they need to improve.

Considering that almost all customers of various ISPs have faced issues and bad customer service, which is very much evident in this forum itself, it is almost impossible to choose an ISP, esp. in india. So I have decided to stick with BSNL at least for the moment and would suggest the same for everyone.

the reliability of services depends on the area the provider covered. they might concerntrate on their large 'territory'. so i advise you guys to refer back what is the largest provider in your area before you subscribe. but i wonder why don't those small provider merge and become bigger?

Most ISPs started with the best of intentions - however they were unable to deliver what they promised. At the moment BSNL and Airtel appear to be the best. I have BSNL and apart from the fact that it took 2 months to get the connection, I have no complaints so dar. I also called the 1-800 number a couple of times and my experience has been no worse than others (say ICICI, ABN-Amro, Dish TV, Tata Sky, etc.).

p/s. In Mumbai and Delhi, there is MTNL instead of BSNL.

Before going for a new connection, consider the following:

    a) Do you have a landline already? If yes, it makes sense to go with the same provider; especially if you get a unified telephone and BB bill. With BSNL/MTNL you get that.
    b) Also you don't need to have any extra cabling done.
    c) BSNL waves off fixed line rental on the higher plans. Check with Airtel and others for similar (if not same) discounts.
    d) If you are opting for a fixed line telephone with BB, then it makes sense to go with BSNL/MTNL because most toll free numbers for other companies are toll free for BSNL/MTNL only.
    e) Finally check the plans and do a long term math.

As if the Broadband connection i would say that BSNL and Airtel are the good ones as i had used them for some time and i have never ever faced any problem with them. So i would recommend both of these.

I would say that Airtel is a good ISP. They are good in everything.. from package pricing to service provided. They are also very good and responsive to customer care service which is something which a lot of other companies really lack. So i would suggest you to go with it.

    hello there
i suggest opting for a bsnl connection will be a wise option because bsnl is a government firm so you will get benefits also like the bill which you will get for a telephone line will be very helpful as it will serve for identification purposes and address proof.
regarding airtel, it is a private firm so naturally it will be costlier than bsnl as the private firms just want to make more and more profit!!.
and the most important bsnl is present in the smallest of the smallest cities in india.so getting a connection will be of less problem.
    thanks
