Default amal81's attempt at citymaking in simcity4

Here are some screens from my very first city journal, which was created way back in 2004 on a simcity fansite called simtropolis.com under the username amal81.

This was my own interpretation of London, England by looking at various architectural documentaries and old satellite photos stored at our university's planning and urban design department. This was way back (2003-4) in the days of dialup (yes 33.6kbps) internets without the help of something like google earth.

My second CJ called "Portage la Prairie" (That name was generated by a random name generator)

The town started as a farming place. It slowly developed into a medium sized city with growing prosperity.

If you really want to learn...you should check out the community at simtropolis.com and check out their omnibus section. It has all the tutorials you'll ever need.

The game is a strategy game and needs a lot of planning ahead. As 18lama said, read the tutorials on Simtropolis.

Or you can cheat also. Download a coastal casino that gives insane amount of money every year to the mayor.

A found a similar game, its called as Roller Coster, bit less complex and easy to play, you are given a huge land in which you have to install rides and other stuff to attract more people into your theme park, each level got different objectives and hurdles in terms of park location, shape, rides available.

You will need to build up a lot of small and medium sized cities...slowly the prosperity of the entire region will grow and rich people will slowly move in.

Shortcut: on simptropolis.com...look out for ralaphaelninja's mods. They can help you a lot.

Tip: Build recreation areas and gardens. Nothing like these to attract wealthy citizens.

@amal, I think I have seen your CJ (portage ...) on Simtropolis.

really? do send me a link if you come across it again.

I tried searching but could not find it.

Ok here's the final update for this city journal. I found more images on imageshack. It is from the same region Portage La Prairie.

The city is called Brockville. The images might appear to be in random order because imageshack has removed certain images...don't know why.

This is a real Megapolis with a population exceeding 1 Million.

    Nice beach front.

What I meant was "I remember seeing this city on Simtroplis in 2006". I was intrigued by an Indian contributor.

    Very nice pics.
