No one should get me wrong here. I am not saying PC is inferior. In fact there are some games that are better played on PC using Mouse/KB. And for online games, PC beats the console hollow.
But I am questioning the comment that graphics is whole and sole for a game experience. It is important definitely. But there are other things too.
I have spent a good 4 years at Electronic Arts (UK and USA) and nearly 3 months at Activision (USA) from 2003 to 2007. You go and ask anyone there and they will reiterate my views. In these companies, people are allowed to play games officially during work time (during small breaks of course). I hardly ever saw anyone playing on PC.
Finally it is a personal choice.

Never knew that you were at EA and activision. Would Love too work there.
Not saying graphics are most important. Crysis is rather boring even with the best graphics till date. COD 4 was a lot of fun, how can you forget Mafia and POP ?
I have played almost 10 games in PS2 @ 3-4 games in PS3, i don't play much because i think we will get better graphics in PC then in consoles.Vorazeal you just dont seem to get it.
Just tell me how many games you have played till now on a console and on which console?

Just4kix the pictures are great.
Good to have a break from the topic of the thread.
Now getting back on the main topic.
WhatJust for better graphics you can afford to give up the enjoyment a console gives to its player. I FIND IT DIFFICULT TO BELIVE THIS!
Alright there are games which are better played on with a keyboard and a mouse and also look better on a PC, but most of the games are relased on consoles and players all over the world prefer to play on consoles then on a PC. SO A CONSOLE WINS.
There are features on a console has which a PC can never have.
I had purposely posted this thread in the PC gaming section so that PC gamers could be made aware of the features of a console and also created the thread "The best game series for playstation" to give them an idea about about many great games available on playstation 2&3, but I never knew PC gamers were so dedicated to their PCs.
If the same thread and polls could have been in U.S, U.K or any other foreign developed country then consoles could have got the maximum number of vots. I can be sure about that.
PC- For work, Multi-Tasking, Threading power.
Console- For gaming
In future, mix them up- PConsole- For work, Multi-Tasking, Threading power and gaming.

everyone here is talking about the features :S what about content??
Apart from graphics, sound, monitor size, i feel the content is very important too. I mean whats the use of buying a XXXX super dvd player if only 2 good movies per year are released for it :S.
I mean look at the game available for consoles vs pc.
In this field console shoots the PC out of the waters. The games available for console are waaaaaaaay better and way too many.
The PC game industry is shrinking, most game developers dont want to invest in to PC as primary platform after what happen to Crysis. Reason is the rampant piracy. Now a days all PC gets are hacky, rushed console ports, MMOs and rts which are 10% single player campaign 90% online play.
A lot of companies can now afford and are skipping the PC altogether.
If you stick with a PC you will miss a lot of the game industry. Now lets say you have played only PC. you will miss jewels like Zelda series, mario galaxy, Metal gear solid series, gears of war 2 and many many more.
Yes the PC has better graphics, more utility, but no person can every call himself/herself a gamer without experiencing the much bigger and vibrant world of consoles.
Next i would like look at experience of consoles vs pc. In a console when you buy a game, its guaranteed to work, pop the cd in and u will be fragging in a few seconds.
Pc is a whole different world! The game you buy there is no guarantee that it will work on machine. Lets say you are a lucky bugger and have a 1kkkkRs PC :P. Even here install problems, Os problems, hardware compatibility issues are there. Then start trolling the publishers forums for a fix or a patch.
Dude not everyone is filthy rich to buy original games
And people want to upgrade or buy Ipods, cell phones instead of blowing 6k on windows 7 or 3k for call of duty modern warfare 2
And dude who says PC industry is shrinking? :P
All the big releases this year like fifa 10,Assassins creed:brotherhood or Call of duty black ops or Medal of honour 2010 will release for PC
If they keep them under 500rs then everyone will buy as its not a big amount
And suppose tomorrow you get bored with gaming or have to give up gaming due to studies
Atleast PC can do a lot more than freaking consoles who can only run games
how many are PC exclusive? none. and i can guarantee you all those games are console ports. Many of these games will delay the PC version to cut down the effect of piracy. Why i say PC exclusives are important is cause they develop with a PC in mind and will do everything to exploit its full power.
Lets look at this way what major break through has there been in terms of technology or innovation in the PC industry. Almost none, compare this to a few years back when people were promising destructible environments, cutting edge graphics and so on. IMO Crysis was the last game to try something new, and they were not happy with the sales. And the next game by the makers is going to be on consoles only, they are skipping PC.
We have dx11 on pc, but we have barely any games that fully take advantage of it. Reason for this is the consoles run on dx9. So all games are developed with dx9 in mind, after the console version is finalized, they will outsource the job to another company who just puts up some basic dx10 features and the game is shipped for pc with "DX10 support" to make us think the PC version is "special". So if you look at it, the console in a way is controlling the PC industry.
I cant really speak for piracy as i myself have pirated a lot of games. But you have to know that piracy is killing the PC gaming industry, Why do u think star craft 2 is going episodic they are using the 10% single player 90% online player formula, that way you finish the campaign in a few hours and are compelled to play online that you need original ofc. They removed lan play, cause they know it if that was there, it will hit their sales figures hard. I do spend money and buy originals for games which i really liked to support the game developers for their work.
Dude,
These game developers dont wish to get paid if they keep such a pricing policy
Most of the good games come for 2k +
Now hardly anybody is rich to keep on buying these games
GTA4 was priced only for 500bucks and almost 5lac original copies of it were sold in India
Now developers in GTA4 spent the same amount of hard work as compared to that of other games but still they charged less and made a lot of profit
(5,00,000x500=Rs 25crores)
This is a benchmark in Indian gaming
Others should also follow this strategy if they want to survive piracy
This is a princliple of purchasing power parity
Explanation of PPP
A MacD burger in the US costs about 2dollars(cheapest)
So in india it should be 100rs
but It is 25 rupees in India
hence everyone from rich to poor can eat burgers

Excellent Information Guys,
Thanks to tech123
for starting this thread. Seriously, got hell of an information.
BTW, got confused after reading this thread where should I vote to...Lol...
Every Platform got its own Adv and Disadv.
Instead of buying any new console at Rs. 25,000/- & above after its releases, I would rather buy the new GPU for my system of Rs. 10,000/- :-P
@just4kix
hey bro, where you working in these gaming companies as Developer or something else?
Going for the interview in this month @ubisoft so any piece of advice for me?
New to Gamining industry.
While I prefer a console for gaming because of ease of use, controllers, etc., a gaming PC will be much more versatile. For the regular public, I will advise a gaming PC.
But there are some games that are difficult to play on a console. Last month, I purchased Nintendo 3DS. It is quite cool but some games require mouse like precision.
I did not work as a games developer. I was involved in the corporate backend (ERP) applications.
Yeah even I agree with just4kix. People who are willing to buy Console and can afford it they must go for it. If you are short with funds in your pocket I would suggest to by PC with decent config (From gaming Point of view) once and can upgrade as per their need in future.
@Just4kix
Oh Sorry Bro. Thought that you worked as devoloper, that's why asked you to suggest. Sorry once again.
