Thread: PS3 Price Cut in India

Well there is some good news for people who love gaming, as the PS3 price has been cut down in India.

The new PlayStation 3 80GB price has been set for Rs19,990 which means its a 20% drop from the original price drop. The price drop comes along with two free games which are Drake's Fortune and GT5 Prologue.
The PS3 is an attractive gaming console which comes with the Blu-Ray device which in coming days is a big plus point.

This does seem like a good deal, and as festivals are coming up too, the console will become popular with gamers.

Is there a reason for all retailers dropping the price in India?

Does the trend often mean prices will be dropped elsewhere in the world too, do you think?

Price change is because of the world-wide drop. The price in US for the PS3 starts at US$ 299.99.

I expect that price drop occured in Spain also.

well the time of recession isn't really helping, so a price drop in products least will allow people to purchase things, especially with festivals coming up.

The PS3 is indeed a worth buy for the sake of Blu-Ray capability alone.

i mean as compared we can buy a good graphic card for 19k............
and play games in pc

well, its not just the graphics ur paying for, its for even the bluray capability.
Its probably the best bluray player out there. Add to that good looks and building an HTPC will all the above would cost a lot more than 20k.

But, down side is that games are a little costly, and for some people, the fact that u cant get pirated games for it is also a con.

buying a PS3 just to use as a bluray player is also very good option. Think of games as an extra.

I would have loved to have the PS3 for Rs17k without the games. Lets see what happens when we get some nice diwali offers.

PS: Is this the old PS3 or the PS3 slim ?? If its the PS3 slim, then is can not be called as a price drop.

Well articulated. To the point.

Besides the PS3 also comes with an HDD, a game controller, basic cables, etc. Comparing this with a graphics card is quite out of context.

As far as the games are concerned, they are costly because the shelf life of a typical game is only six months while millions is spent on R&D, Development, Testing, Marketing, Promotions, etc.

there is a point when it comes to the games, because if the games are expensive then it would be difficult to get the latest and a large variety of games!

Games are available. But people want them for free or throw away prices.

well i have gr8 news. by the end of this year i.e. by christmas time the price of ps3 will come around 15k acoording to a well confirmed source. hope this all goes well..........

the price cut took place a long back, Sony announced that PS3 will be down by 100$ and since then its 19,990/- INR, recently during Diwali I saw the Playstation Ad. on the TV, also in it the price quoted was 19,990/- INR for PS3, 5990/- PS2, dunno abt PSP.
