Thread: PS3 goes lighter & Slimmer

Yes, you have read it right, Sony has launched a sleeker & lighter version of PS3 gaming console & have added SLIM to the name, so now this version will be known as PlayStation Slim. The version is now available in India.

I am not sure about the cost though, but in US market its $300 for the 120 GB model which is not bad deal when you're getting the 80 GB old model at the same price in India, I repeat, I am not sure about the current price of new & the older version.

This upgrade is majorly of physical nature, PS3 is now 33% smaller & somewhat same percentage lighter than the previous version i.e. Classic PS3.

The another exciting feature is that the new version consumes 33% less power! (another 33% )

And if you own Sony Bravia LCD, it has something more for you, It now comes with a Bravia chip, which enables you to shut down the PS3 with the LCD remote control which means you can turn off the console & the TV at the same time.

The only thing which I didn't like about the Slim version is that it's not shinny. The new version got a dull surface which doesn't attract you much.

As it is less shiny, it attracts less finger prints than the FAT one. Also, i dont think the slim can play PS2 games.

The price in India is Rs19,999. Not too bad, but each game costs Rs2500+ so that really is the sad part.

LOL...I agree that with the fingure print thing but i really like the smooth surface body of the older version which I missed in this one.
