office politics is something which affects everyone and you are not the only one suffering from this problem. As i know there are lot many back biters at my work place too and they always try to play some stunts. Not sure how to deal with such people but still i can fight with these jerks

Office politics is good in a way if it has positive results.
If they use it for achieving the objectives/goals of the organisation,then there's no wrong in it.But I have hardly seen people using this (office politics) in a a right way.Every1 uses it for their purpose.

Its simple... I've been following a rule since day one of my Professional Life...

"Survival of Fittest"

In any politiccs (Home, Office or National) there's one key Mantra - You need a Backup / support !!

If someone (Boss, Superboss etc) is in your confidence..u r thru. Else you struggle for your lifetime.
But yes there's a negative to this too.... You r gone once your backup is gone. For this reason only every new boss comes along with his own team..... Be in the team and you succeed..

exactly, there is no point in playing puppets........
I have never experienced office life so far. But I have seen similar politics happen in college life. I firmly believe that if u can carry urself well and maintain dignity, stature ; u will end up being liked by most. Of course one meets people who r bad for morale (may be ur boss or union leader in college),
if I start to kiss bot***s to get along with them, I will be doing that for the rest of my life.
Be aggressive and never take crap from nobody, it has been my motto.
So far, I m doing great.

You must be having one quality which makes your presence felt..... In any case... when you are in front of your boss / senior ...you always go like .. yes sir / yes boss / haan ji...

You've got to have your own command !!!
